The Gear S2 is a rounder, thinner, more compact version of its predecessor, the Gear S. Samsung has finally decided to do away with the typical rectangular smartwatch design and instead opted for the more classic round watch face. Perhaps, to differentiate themselves from Apple who recently just made the Apple Watch in the Philippines, but also to offer a different, more natural way of interacting with a wearable. It comes in two variants: the <span style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Gear S2</span> which has a rubber strap and is more targeted for sports enthusiasts, and the <span style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Gear S2 Classic </span>which has a genuine leather strap. Both variants can be charged though a wireless charger. Samsung claims the Gear S2 can last from 2 to 3 days. Also, it’s IP68 water resistant so you can dip it in water up to 1.5 meter for 30 minutes.</div>

Unique to the Gear S2 is a rotating bezel that Samsung says is less awkward than tinkering with the crown and thus, obstructing the view to its 1.2 inch Super AMOLED touch display. Aside from the bezel, 2 other buttons can be found at the right side of the device for going back one step or for going back to the home screen or watch face.</div>

Another unique thing about the smartwatch is that it runs Tizen, Samsung’s own operating system. The interface is smooth and responsive, although with my brief time with the units, I often got lost in the interface. Samsung says apps and watch faces are already available for the Gear S2 through the Gear Manager app and that they are in talks with other developers to develop apps for the device. Also, as of now, the Gear S2 cannot be paired with any iOS device but is compatible with any Android device provided they have the Gear Manager app installed.</div>

The Gear S2 becomes available in all Samsung Experience stores starting November 14, 2015. As a giveaway, Samsung will be bundling the Gear S2 with a free Level U bluetooth earphones and the Gear S2 Classic with an extra genuine leather strap until November 13.</div>
