Altec Lansing has an 80 year old legacy in shaping the history of how we listen to audio today. It has been producing speakers for both audiophiles and music-loving consumers throughout generations. They are at it again with the Mini H2O which is a compact “everything proof” outdoor bluetooth speaker. We tested this little guy out and are pleasantly surprised with what it can do.</div>

The Mini H2O definitely embodies the term mini. Its lightweight and you can hold it comfortably in one hand. It has an octagon shape with an elongated middle which is easy on the grip. The Mini H2O’s panels are covered with rubber that helps with keeping it water proof. It comes in black, white, blue, orange and red.</div>

There are three buttons on top namely the power button and volume controls which is everything you’d need to operate it. At the left corner you have a carabineer loop and Altec also gives you a carabineer in the package. At the bottom panel, you have a snap-shut compartment that shields the 3.5mm Aux Input and the micro USB charging port.</div>

The main thing you get this for is that it’s everything proof which as much as we would like to have tested it all, we don’t have snow in the Philippines. It was definitely waterproof, certified as well with IP67, and floats. So you don’t have to worry about dropping it in water. It is definitely shockproof as we let it drop from about five feet consistently and we also threw it around. We didn’t notice and dust on it even after taking it out about our travels and leaving it stationary at home. All in all, for everyday use, it is proofed in enough. We’re also pretty sure it can handle the beach since we’re taking it with us to Puerto this coming week.</div>

The Mini H2O was designed for outdoor use so we tried it out and we got a good 15 feet away from it at max volume for music to start to get fuzzy.  Though indoors it could easily deliver sound throughout my 40 sqm apartment effortlessly.</div>

The Mini H2O claims up to 6 hours battery life.  We tested it and we got 2 movies of about 2 hours each, an hour on Youtube and about 1.5 hours on Spotify before the battery indicator on my phone beeped out. Yes, there is a battery indicator on your phone as well as a voice confirmation to inform you of your battery status. It definitely can keep you entertained during day hikes.</div>

CONNECTIVITY</h6>

The Mini H2O connects mainly through Bluetooth. Though, you can also have the option of 3.5mm Aux Input. The Bluetooth range is pretty decent since I can move about from room to room and it doesn’t get out of range.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #111111; font-family: Raleway, Arial, Tahoma; font-size: 15.2015199661255px; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: 24.3224315643311px; margin-bottom: 0.75em; margin-top: 0.75em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">
We also tried the onboard microphone for some hands free calls and it worked well enough using Skype. There was some feedback at first but upon later calls it cleared up. So it’s also perfect as a dashboard device when you go for long drives.</div>

For a compact outdoor speaker, the Altec Lansing Mini H2O delivers what it promises. If you’re the type that likes to travel and have adventure, this is a must have. The battery life and it being everything proof is more than enough to make up for the CD quality audio which is basically what most Bluetooth speakers are at. Lastly, we also appreciate the voice confirmation as it was a lot perkier than Siri.
